2007 CPHA FOUNDATION EQUITATION
Open to junior and amateur riders who
are current members of the CPHA and PCHA.
Trainers of riders in this class must be
professional members of the CPHA. To be
shown over an equitation-type course of
at least 8 fences 3'3" in height with
at least 2 USEF Tests (1-18) included as
part of the course. This class will be judged
on the current standards of the US Equestrian
Federation.
No previous winner of the Finals may compete
in any future finals in the same age group.
They may ride for year-end points only.
QUALIFICATIONS: 21/under riders
must earn 6 points during the qualifying
season. They may continue to
ride in the class for the year-end high
point award. Amateur’s 22/over and
Juniors 14/under must ride in one class
prior to the 2006 championships to qualify.
They may continue to ride for their division
for year-end high point award. The high-point
division leaders will receive special awards
as the California Professional Horsemen's
Association may bestow at its annual awards
presentation held at the PCHA Convention.
Points are awarded: 6-4-3-2-1. To fill
a class, three (3) riders must compete.
Unconventional equipment may be penalized
at the discretion of the judges.
Qualifying period will be from the first
weekend after the finals to the last weekend
before the finals.
2007 CPHA FOUNDATION EQUITATION
CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL
QUALIFICATIONS: Open to
junior and amateur riders who are current
members of the CPHA and the PCHA. The 21/under
class must have earned six points
during the qualifying period and the 14/under
and the amateurs (22/over) must have ridden
in at least one Foundation Equitation Class
prior to the 2006 championships. Trainers
of riders in this class must be professional
members of the CPHA and current members
of the PCHA.
Warm Up Class: The warm up class
will be judged. Any natural obstacle used
in the final must also be used in the warm
up class.
CLASS SPECIFICATIONS:
There will be two rounds consisting of courses
with at least two changes of direction.
Two judges will sit apart during all rounds
including the work off and use the open
numerical system. The rider’s score
in each round will be an average of each
judge’s score.
The order of go for Round 1 will be drawn,
and this round will count 50%. The order
of go in Round 2 will be the reverse order
of Round 1. Round 2 will count 50%. After
the completion of Round 2, the riders with
the top 4 scores and any additional riders
with scores within 3 points of the leader
and any rider whose score is 80 or better
will be required to perform additional tests
at the discretion of the judges. The work-off
score will be announced and added to the
rider's total score. The score in Round
2 will decide ties not involving 1st place.
An exhibitor may only compete in
one section of the championships regardless
of age eligibility.
Schooling:
• Follow USEF Jumper schooling
rules EXCEPT: Swedish Oxers (max 12”
difference), tarps, coolers, and liverpools
are acceptable.
• If size of schooling area permits,
one hour before the class begins the horse
show will set the jumps in the schooling
area (s). The jumps will be flagged to
show the direction of the jumps. These
flags may be changed, red on right, white
on left.
• Verticals can be made into oxers,
oxers can be made into verticals. The
jumps may be raised or lowered, widened
or narrowed.
Classes for schooling before finals are
held at the discretion of the horse show
management. Approved USEF attire for schooling
is required.
There is to be no contact between
exhibitor or trainer to either the judges
or the course designer prior to or at the
conclusion of any round without the specified
technical delegate or show steward present.
Riders 14 & Under. Fences 3’3”
in height .Two tests (USEF Eq. 1-18) will
be part of the original course in Round
1 and 2.
Riders 21 & Under. Fences 3’3”
in height. The course will be an advanced
equitation type using banks, if applicable,
Liverpool (in at least one round) triple
and double combinations. (USEF Eq. 1-18)
will be part of the original course in Round
1 and 2.
Riders 22 & Over. Fences 3’3”
in height. Two tests (USEF Eq. 1-18) will
be part of the original course in Round
1 and 2. Riders will not be asked to dismount,
mount or jump without stirrups.
AWARDS
Hap Hansen Perpetual Trophy presented to
the 14 & Under Champion. Barbara Worth
Oakford Perpetual Trophy presented to the
21 & Under Champion.
Victor Hugo-Vidal Perpetual Trophy presented
to the 22 & Over Champion.
Special awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each division. Ribbons through 10th will be presented for all Rounds.
ORDER OF GO
The order of go for Round 1 will be drawn
at the exhibitors’ party. If a rider
or his/her representative fails to attend
the draw, the USEF Steward, Technical Delegate
or CPHA official will act on his/her behalf.
